Escambia DUI Defense Attorneys & Florida Criminal Trial Lawyers : An Overview So You Know What To Look For To Pick The Best

If the process of hiring a lawyer could be honed into a single question, this is what it would be: Are you a Florida Bar Association Board Certified Specialist? The answer is either a "yes" or a long story of how the lawyer really isn't, doesn't need to be, and how they are otherwise qualified. Simply put, any answer other than "yes" means no.

Florida criminal defense attorney Stephen G. Cobb, a Florida Bar Association Board Certified Criminal Trial Law Specialist, has practiced law in Escambia County since the early 1990's. He has represented clients in cases at the Escambia County Judicial Center located in downtown Pensacola, Florida, for many years.

Representing You No Matter Where You Live

Many people who need our services live somewhere other than Florida. Our firm routinely handles DUI & BUI cases where the person being defended resides in another city, state or country.

In fact, many DUI & BUI cases can even be handled without the person being defended even having to appear in court in person. This does not work in every case, and it may not even be desirable to handle the case in this manner. For example, if there is a motion to suppress evidence (such as a breath test, the legal reason for a vehicle stop, statements or other evidence) then you will definitely need to appear in court. The same is true if you maintain a plea of not guilty and proceed to trial. However, even where a court appearance is required, we will do everything we can to keep the number of court appearances to a minimum in order to reduce the amount of disruption into your normal routine. Many court appearances do not accomplish much of anything at all, and would waste your time. For example, take Arraignment: You could end up driving for hours, stay overnight in a hotel, go to court, wait for hours for your name to be called, and your DUI defense attorney would speak for about 15 seconds, set the case for trial and you both would leave. Instead, we routinely file legal pleadings in writing to avoid time wasting court appearances that accomplish little more than cause you more embarrassment.
